April 25 @ 10:30 am - 4:00 pm
The main aim of the day is to increase the knowledge of Book Arts amongst members and to encourage dialogues, and collaborative networking between Artists, Printmakers, Poets and Bookbinders.
The day will comprise of an illustrated talk by Persian artist Batool Showghi.
Batool was born in Iran and moved to England in 1985, she is a multidisciplinary artist who has a passion for artists’ books and Book Arts. Her work moves between photography, illustration, painting and textiles evolving from single images to books, images in boxes, installations and mixed media work.
Her artwork is concerned with her cultural heritage, memory, identity and loss, in particular examining the physical limits that women experience with regard to cultural and religious boundaries. Batool has exhibited regularly at our previous Book Arts events.
There will also be a Book Arts Fair presenting a variety of emerging and established Book Artists who will be happy to discuss their work, with most works for sale.
Some artists will be demonstrating their techniques and there will be some Spoken Word and Poetry.
There will also be a display of Sonia Serrao’s personal collection of Artists’ Books collected over the last 20+ years.
